Child-Resistant Mylar Bags, Built to Your Market's Test

"Child-resistant" on a pouch is not a vibe — it is a specific closure, tested as a finished pack, in the market where you sell. Here is exactly what we build, what you still have to test, and how to order.

What "child-resistant" means on a pouch

On flexible packaging, child resistance comes from the closure: a CR zipper that takes a two-step motion (press and slide, or squeeze and pull) that young children struggle to complete but adults can still open. The pouch itself stays resealable, so it keeps working for the whole life of the pack, not just the first opening.

One thing matters more than anything else on this page: child resistance is tested on the finished pack, in the market where you sell. In the United States that means the CPSC 16 CFR 1700.20 protocol, run by a lab on samples of your actual pouch with your actual film thickness and zipper. We do not hand you a certificate and call it done — see what we can and cannot do below.

Which sizes and closures we can build

Child-resistant zippers are available on every size from 3.5 g up to 1 lb, on stand-up, flat and custom die-cut pouches. The pouch stays resealable after opening.

  • CR zipper — press-and-slide resealable closure, the standard choice for cannabis-adjacent retail
  • Standard resealable zipper — for markets and products that do not require CR
  • Combined features — tear notches, round corners, hang hole, clear window, bottom print can be combined with a CR zipper on one pouch

Sizes: 1 g (7 × 9 cm), 3.5 g (9 × 13 + 6 cm), 7 g, 14 g, 28 g / 1 oz and 1 lb — any other dimension is made to order. For flower, gummies or any other fill, the right size is decided by a fill test, not by the label weight.

What we can and cannot do about certification

We keep this blunt, because it protects your listing and your customers:

  • We do: build the pouch to spec, supply samples for your own certification testing, print the warning labels and statements your market requires, and hold tolerances between the tested sample and the bulk run.
  • We do not: hold a child-resistance test report on your behalf. Certification happens in the market where you sell, on the finished pack, and the sign-off belongs to the brand.

Ask us for sample pouches early — labs test the pack you will actually ship, so the sample film, zipper and print must match the bulk spec.

What to send us for a quote

  1. Size (or fill weight + product type, we propose the pouch)
  2. Quantity per design
  3. CR zipper or standard zipper
  4. Artwork — a logo or a sketch is enough, our design service is free
  5. Your market (so we print the right warnings and quote shipping)

Send it on WhatsApp and we reply with pricing and a dieline, usually within 24 hours.

Price and lead time

Quick answers

The questions buyers ask most about this.

Do your child-resistant mylar bags come with a certificate?

No. Child resistance is tested and certified on the finished pack in the market where you sell — in the US under CPSC 16 CFR 1700.20. We build the pouch to spec and supply samples for your own lab testing; the report and sign-off belong to the brand.

What sizes can have a child-resistant zipper?

Every size from 3.5 g up to 1 lb, on stand-up, flat and die-cut pouches. The pouch stays resealable after opening.

Can you print the required warnings for my market?

Yes. Send the exact wording your market requires (or ask us and we confirm what is typical) and we print it on the correct panel. Content sign-off stays with the brand.

What is the MOQ for child-resistant pouches?

Custom printed pouches start at 500 pieces per design. Ready-made stock bags start at 200 pieces.

How fast can I get samples for testing?

We make a sample pouch for you to check size, film, print and zipper before bulk production — samples carry a sample fee confirmed up front. Bulk production starts only after you approve the sample.

How much do child-resistant mylar bags cost?

A 3.5 g matte stand-up pouch with a standard zipper runs US$0.60 at 500 pieces down to US$0.16 at 3,000; a CR zipper is quoted on top of that. Send size, zipper and quantity and we reply with exact pricing, usually within 24 hours.
